Exam Pattern :- OSSSC Junior Clerk Exam Pattern is as follows :

► The written test will be multiple choice objective type.
► The standard of examination shall be equivalent to that of Secondary School.
► There will be a Practical Skill Test carrying 65 marks of 1 hour 30 minutes duration.
► The practical Skill Test shall be of qualifying nature. A candidate securing minimum 40% marks in it will be deemed to be qualified in the skill test but this score shall not be added to the total marks of written examination.

Exam Syllabus :- OSSSC Junior Clerk Syllabus will be as follows :

1) Language Test (English and Odia) …………………….85 marks

A. English Language Test – …………………….50 marks

1. Verbs, Tenses, Active and Passive voice, Subject-verb Agreement,
2. Connectors, Types of sentences, Direct and Indirect speech, Comparison.
3. Articles, Noun, Pronouns, Prepositions
4. Unseen passage (400-450 words in length) with a variety of comprehension questions.

B. Odia Language Test –  …………………….35 marks

1. Grammar …………………….20 marks
   1. Essay writing on familiar topics (within 250 words) …………………….10 marks
   2. Letter Writing (Personal letter, Applications,Business or Official) (within 150 words) …………………….05 marks
2. Translation (One English passage of around 100words to be translated into Odia) …………………….05 marks
3. Comprehension of an unseen prose passage (5 x 2) = Five short questions to be asked…………………….10 marks

2) Objective General Knowledge …………………….100 marks

In this category, there should be a series of matching questions of different categories like:

1. Matching Historical events with dates, personalities and places, Geographical facts with places,
2. States, Countries and institutions with headquarters,
3. Books and authors,
4. Scientific facts and discoveries with dates, persons and uses,
5. Current events with places and personalities, and,
6. Matching questions of miscellaneous type.

3) Objective Mathematics …………………….100 marks

1. Number System
2. HCF and LCM
3. Squares and Square Roots
4. Cubes and Cube Roots
5. Percentage and Averages
6. Simple Interest and Compound Interest.
7. Profit, Loss and Discount
8. Partnership
9. Ratio and Proportion

Under this, there will be a series of questions in Practical Mathematics required for day-to-day use. The questions would be such as to test candidate’s ability to work out with quickness and accuracy.

4) Basic Computer Knowledge (Objective) …………………….100 marks

1. MS Windows: Introduction of Windows
2. MS Office: MS Word, MS Power Point and MS Excel

5) Practical Skill Test …………………….65 marks

1. Essay & Letter Writing in Odia (15 Marks)
   1. Essay Writing on Familiar Topics (Within 250 Words) : 10 marks
   2. Letter Writing (Personal Letter, Applications Business or Officials) (Within 150 Words) : 05 marks
2. Basic Computer Skills (50 Marks)
   1. WINDOWS operating system: *To test some of the following basic system operations on file/folder(s):-
      • Create, Rename, Copy/Cut/Paste, Delete
   2. MS Word: *A Paragraph in MS Word incorporating some of the tools given below:-
      • Editing and formatting text and paragraph
      • Page and Paragraph Setup
   3. MS Power Point: *A Power Point presentation with 2/3 slides using the tools given below:-
      • Editing and formatting slides
   4. MS Excel: * A problem in spreadsheet related to some of the tools given below:-
      • Formatting cells and data
      • functions

* Printouts of the document(s) should be attached with the answer sheet.
